Dennis Wayne Clippard, 58, of Roanoke Rapids died Sunday, December 7, 2008 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Dennis was born December 12, 1949, and was a native of Halifax County. He enjoyed cooking and loved to play fast pitch softball and feeding his birds. Dennis was a U. S. Army veteran.

He is survived by his parents, Maxie Clippard, Jr. and Orevia Whitby Clippard; his son, Michael Clippard of Florida; two sisters, Barbara Brewer and her husband, Kim, of Roanoke Rapids and Sandy Carpenter and her husband, Dewey, of Louisburg; two brothers, Maxie Clippard III and his wife, Joy, of Roanoke Rapids, and Randy Clippard of Mountain Home, Idaho; and several nieces and nephews.

Askew Funeral & Cremation Services is handling the arrangements, where the family will receive friends Wednesday, December 10, 2008 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at 15 Henry Street, Roanoke Rapids. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel Thursday, December 11, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Maurice Wheat officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.

The flag in front of the funeral home flies at half-staff in honor of Mr. Clippard’s service to his country.
